Holland America has carried more than eleven million passengers.


In 1976, Holland America began recruiting skilled personnel from the Philippines. United Philippine Lines, the sole manning agent of Holland America Line, was the pioneer in the manning industry and one of the very first principal to hire Filipino seafarers to first work in the deck and engine department and eventually in the kitchen, galley, front office and bars/lounges. UPL also provides personnel in the technical department (tailors, upholstery, carpenters, plumbers).
